Luckly, I have no big problem with my work here. My colleagues here come from Spain, Uruguay, and Brazil. What I join in is a multinational team. We all stuggle hard with English. This makes me feel better to work in States.

However, the problem I face is to live with myself. I have to do all the domestic chores, including laundry, ironing, cleaning, and cooking.

I think the biggest problem is food. Eating out here is much expensive. And the letters on the menu are really stanger to me. For example this Friday, we went to Chapel-hill to have a meal. My Brazilian colleague arbitrarily ordered one meal item since he didn't want to pay any attention through the menu. When the dish placed on the table. he yelled: "Oh! I hate this country! Every meal is sandwich! I don't want sandwich anymore". Although I don't hate sandwich, there are not many choices to have a good and economical meal here. After I successfully solved the problems with laundry, ironing, and cleaning, cooking became my biggest enemy now.
I made a terrible steaks in my first time cooking here. After consulting with Loretta, Erhu and cplin, I decided to pay a little more time on web browsing for more information about cooking. I have to say, where there's a will there's a way. Finally, I successfully made a pot of pasta sauce. You can imagine it was a very taiwan-style sauce, even with egg-drop in this sauce. I enjoyed this sauce for 2 days. After that, I made a pottage, of course, still Taiwanese style. It didn't smell very good in the beginning, but adding a lot of milk and cheese redeem this soup. It seemed like my cooking gene suddenly survived! Afterwards, I tried steaks again, this time it was not bad.

Now I have a to-cook list. Final objective is to invite my colleagues to my place with a good meal. Hope I can make it!
